The issue of phone-tapping in Telangana in the erstwhile BRS regime is a hot topic of discussion in the State now. The Congress government seems to have taken a serious note of the allegations of tapping of Revanth Reddy's phone at that time. And former MLA and BJP leader Raghunandan Rao reacted today on the issue.
Rao lodged a complaint with Telangana DGP Ravi Gupta on the allegations. Speaking with the media later, he said that he had sought an impartial probe into the case.
"The phones of opposition leaders were tapped during the days leading to the Dubbaka, Huzurabad and Munugodu by-elections. That is what I had said even during the by-elections. That's what I said in November 2020, too. Now it's been proven true. The tapping would not have been possible without the role of BRS leaders," he said.
Rao demanded an impartial probe into the matter.
He also said that he had asked Congress leaders Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and Gaddam Vivek too to lodge a complaint with the DGP.
He reiterated that the tapping would not have been possible without the role of BRS leaders, and demanded that the top BRS leaders all be interrogated in the case, starting right from the party's boss K Chandrashekar Rao.
"KCR should be named as the first accused, Harish Rao as the second accused, and the then Siddipet Collector Venkatrami Reddy as the third accused. The Kalvakuntla family has an important role to play in this. I have requested the DGP to register one FIR for each case. I am confident that a transparent inquiry will be conducted," he said.
