Hyderabad is gearing up for another high-profile event.
The Telangana Tourism department is making arrangements to conduct an International Kite & Sweet Festival at the Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, on January 13, 14 and 15.
Minister for Tourism Jupally Krishna Rao unveiled a poster for the event at Haritha Plaza today.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the festival would highlight the culture and traditions of Telangana.
"40 international kite flyers from 16 countries and 60 national kite club members will be participating in the three-day festival and flying kites designed in various designs. Apart from these, national and international sweets will be made available in the stalls," Jupally said.
He said that the Department of Tourism was setting up stalls of handicrafts and handlooms, and also organising cultural programs during the Kite Festival.
He added that officials of the GHMC, and the police and other departments were making all the necessary arrangements to ensure that visitors who came to watch the show were not inconvenienced. He also said that entry would be free for all visitors.
