So far, nine people have died as a result of accidents that occurred due to flying kites.
While some of the those died due to getting electrocuted while attempting to extricate kites stuck to electric wires, others died while falling off the tops of buildings.
In one incident, a youth was killed while flying a kite in Yapral under the Bolaram police station limits. Bhuvan Sai fell off the fourth floor of a building while flying the kite. The boy was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Elsewhere, two 12-year-old children from Kalluru in Korutla town were electrocuted while flying kites. Both of them fell off the top of a building when they came in contact with an electric wire. Half of one boy's body was burnt in the incident, and another was grievously injured. Family members and locals noticed this and rushed the children to a local hospital. The doctors said that the condition of one of them was critical.
