Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced that Telangana would build Bharat Future City, envisioned as one of the country's best-planned urban centres, matching global standards, in Hyderabad.

Addressing members of the Public Affairs Forum of India in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said that the proposed city would be developed over 30,000 acres in its first phase and would feature nine specialised zones, including an AI City Zone, a Health Zone and an Education Zone.

Sharing details of the Telangana Rising 2047 vision, Reddy said, "I want to make Telangana a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. To achieve this, we plan to zone the entire State: areas inside the Outer Ring Road (160 km) will be designated as the Core Urban Zone; the region between the ORR and the upcoming Regional Ring Road (360 km) will be a Semi-Urban Manufacturing Zone; and areas beyond the RRR will be part of the Rural Economy."

Highlighting the importance of sustainability, he said that the future would belong to the cities that can manage water and climate crises effectively. "We are creating an Urban Water Grid through the rejuvenation of the Musi river, restoration of lakes and cleaning of nalas. Only cities that can mitigate climate risks will thrive. Hyderabad will become India's first city to tackle climate challenges, including droughts and urban flooding," he said.

Speaking of how the development model would be knowledge-driven, the Chief Minister said that Hyderabad would be made a global knowledge hub by inviting the top international universities to establish offshore campuses in Telangana. These initiatives would be supported by new institutions such as Young India Skills University, YI Sports University and YI Integrated Residential Schools, aimed at strengthening education and skill development.

Reddy said that the Bharat Future City, the Regional Ring Road, the Regional Ring Rail, the Musi rejuvenation project and the Manufacturing Zone would be game-changing projects. "We are creating opportunities for the future and setting a new standard for Indian cities. Telangana will also serve as a China+1 alternative in global manufacturing," he said.

Inviting companies and professionals to participate in the State's growth story, he said, "Join me in creating this amazing State and economy, with opportunities for everyone."
