Implement Women's Reservation Bill From Upcoming Elections: BRS
BRS MP Nama Nageswara Rao today asked the union government in the Lok Sabha to implement the Women's Reservation Bill from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
BRS MP Nama Nageswara Rao today asked the union government in the Lok Sabha to take steps for the implementation of the Women's Reservation Bill from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Taking part in a debate on the Bill in the Lok Sabha, Rao lamented the delay in the implementation of the Bill despite the fact that it had been introduced five times in Parliament so far.
The BRS MP said that there should be a time frame for the implementation of the Bill, and that the delimitation process should therefore be completed in a stipulated period.
He also pointed out that after the formation of Telangana State in 2014, the Telangana government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had passed a resolution in the State Assembly demanding 33% reservation for women in Parliament and the State legislatures.
He also said that the BRS government was giving 50% reservation for women in the posts of Sarpanches, MPTCs and ZPTCs, and in municipalities, municipal corporations and market committees.
