On the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the BRS leadership has swung into action and reached out to the disgruntled leaders who did not get tickets for the upcoming Assembly elections, pacifying them with promises of nominated and other posts.
There are several strong contenders for the party ticket in each Assembly constituency, and the BRS leadership is concerned that the disgruntled leaders can dent the party's prospects in the elections. In a bid to control the damage that is likely to be caused by such sulking leaders and ticket aspirants, the party leadership has deputed some leaders to pacify the sulking leaders.
As part of this, on Wednesday morning MP Nama Nageswara Rao met former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao at his residence and held discussions with him for more than an hour in the wake of reports that the latter might soon shift loyalties to the Congress.
Nageswara Rao, who aspired for the BRS ticket from the Paleru Assembly constituency in Khammam district, was denied the ticket and sitting MLA Kandala Upender Reddy retained it. Ever since, Tummala's supporters have been conducting meetings and unanimously passing resolutions that he should contest in the Assembly elections.
In another such instance of damage control, MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy went to the residence of sitting BRS MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah, who represents Station Ghanpur in Jangaon district and has been denied the party ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections. However, Rajaiah was not available at the house.
