Expressing concerns over the fury of the deluge in Hyderabad and the ruined state of its infrastructure, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today directed Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to estimate the overall loss incurred by the State and forward it to the Centre for reimbursment.
The Chief Minister, who is in New Delhi, called up the Chief Secretary and inquired about the rescue and rehabilitation measures being taken up in the twin cities. KCR reportedly directed him to hold a review meeting with the district Collectors and estimate the loss caused due to heavy rains, and send a report to the Union government seeking adequate financial assistance to recover from the loss.
KCR expressed anguish at the "pathetic" condition of Hyderabad's infrastructure and asked the CS why, despite government funding, officials had failed to procure standard quality materials for the construction of roads, bridges and other government structures.
He said that the rains had caused a loss to both the people and the government.
Later, the Chief Secretary held a video conference with the district Collectors regarding the same.
