Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President N Uttam Kumar Reddy urged the members of the Party to help the people who were affected by the ongoing heavy rains in the State and its capital.
Speaking to the media after visiting the rain-affected areas including Alwal, Kukatpally and others on Saturday, Reddy said that the State government's negligence had pushed the city into chaos.
He said that neither Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao nor municipal administration minister K T Rama Rao was capable of handling the municipal administration portfolio.
He said that the GHMC was starved of funds under the TRS' regime and consequently the routine de-silting of sewers and other necessary works had gotten stalled before the onset of monsoon. This negligence had cost Hyderabad dear, he said.
"The State government did not take any measures to prevent floods in the city. As far as I know, no funds have been allocated to the GHMC for managing disasters. The situation clearly shows that no emergency plans were made after the IMD's warning. At least now KCR and KTR must come out of their slumber and bring the city back to normalcy," he said.
