Man Gets 20 Years RI For Sexually Assaulting Teenage Girl
A POCSO court today convicted a Chinthala Manikya Rao and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment of 20 years and pay a fine of Rs 10,000.

The Special Sessions Judge for the POCSO Court, Nampally, T Anitha, today convicted a Chinthala Manikya Rao under the IPC and the POCSO Act and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment of 20 years and pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
The details of the case are as follow: The girl aged 15 was residing with her paternal grand mother. During the holidays, she used to visit her father's house. Rao used to reside as a tenant in the adjacent house. He used to abuse the victim by touching her private parts ever since she was in her 4th standard. He also took photos and videos when the victim was bathing and changing her clothes, and started threatening her that he would upload them to Youtube and Facebook, and sexually assaulted her repeatedly.
He also threatened her that he would not to reveal kill her father and brother if she revealed his crime to anybody.
Since April 2018 the girl stopped getting regular periods and was suffering with stomach pain. When her grandmother enquired, she revealed that the accused was sexually abusing her for the last four years. Then her grandmother complained to the Chilkalguda police, who shifted her to the Bharosa Centre where her statement was recorded.
Upon the receipt of the complaint, K Venkat Reddy, Sub-Inspector of Police, registered an FIR and took up investigation. After a thorough inquiry, P Venkata Ramana, ACP, Gopalpuram division, Secunderabad, filed a chargesheet.
The Bharosa Centre facilitated the victim's family with counselling, medical support, legal support, financial support and submission of documents for compensation, apart from home visits.
The concerted efforts of the police officers and officers at the Bharosa Centre were closely monitored by D Kavitha, DCP, Women Safety, and Prasanna Lakshmi, ACP, Women's Safety, Hyderabad.
