Jobless Man Gets Life Sentence for Raping Daughter
The XII ASJ Hyderabad convicted the accused to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.

In a sexual assault case that occurred in December 2015 involving a minor girl from Gulshan Iqbal Colony, Chandrayangutta, the XII Additional Sessions Judge in Hyderabad T Anitha sentenced the accused Arshad Hussain, 52, to rigorous imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs 10,000, after he was convicted for the offense under Section 5(n) read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
If the fine is not paid, the accused will need to undergo simple imprisonment for six months.
Additionally, Hussain was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 for the offense under Section 323 of the IPC; and if this fine is not paid, he will face three months of simple imprisonment.
He also received another two-year sentence and a Rs 5,000 fine for the offense under Section 506 of the IPC, with a sentence of three months of simple imprisonment in case he does not pay the fine.
For context, on November 26, 2021, the victim's mother reported to the police that Hussain had raped their elder daughter, who was a minor, and threatened her not to inform family members about the incident. A case was registered under Cr No 657/2021, under Sections 376(2)(f), 323 and 506 of the IPC, Section 3 read with Section 4 of the POCSO Act 2012. The accused was arrested and produced before the court for judicial remand.
Chandrayangutta SHO K N Prasad Verma filed a chargesheet before the XII ASJ Court. Due to a bifurcation of police jurisdiction, the case was transferred to the Santosh Nagar PS. During the trial, the Santosh Nagar police presented all witnesses before the court to ensure a conviction.
