Bollywood actor and noted philanthropist Sonu Sood today visited Tank Bund in Hyderabad and launched the Sonu Sood Ambulance Service, started for the benefit of the city's residents.
Inspired by the actor's philanthropy, a local named Shiva, known for rescuing more than a hundred people from drowning in the Hussain Sagar, started a free ambulance service to help the poor of the city.
Shiva also decided to honour the actor's humanitarian efforts by naming the service after the latter, and invited him to launch the ambulance as well.
Shiva bought the ambulance by pooling the donations he had received from the people of the city.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that he was overwhelmed by the support his initiative had received, and thanked the people who had donated money for the purchase of the ambulance.

Sood also spoke at the launch, and appreciated the efforts being made by Shiva for the benefit of the poor.
He called upon the youth of the country to take inspiration from Shiva, and to do their bit for those less fortunate than themselves.
"There is a pressing need for heroes like Shiva to come forward and serve society. We must all support each other," Sood said.
While in the city, the actor also performed prayers at a nearby temple along with Musheerabad MLA Mutha Gopal.
