Seeking Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh, hijras (transgenders) staged a dharna in Yelamanchali of Visakhapatnam district on Monday.

The hijras participated in a deeksha in a tent erected by the ruling TDP after the former expressed a desire to stage a dharna.

The transgenders, who reside in Sheshukonda Colony, came in a procession displaying placards protesting the attitude of the Centre. They declared that they would wage a movement till Andhra Pradesh was given Special Category Status.
