The BJP President, after the hectic campaigning in Karnataka ended last evening, reached Tirumala for a darsan of the Lord. Afer an overnight stay he had a darsan this morning, and was accorded full temple honours by the TTD officials and priests.
While he was on his way back to the airport, TDP workers who had gathered at Alipiri with black flags and placards demanding Special Category Status to AP, tried to stop the convoy.
The slogan-shouting TDP workers hurled stones at the vehicles of the BJP chief's convoy, damaging some of them. The BJP workers in the convoy then got down from their vehicles, and a clash ensued between them and the TDP protestors.
As more TDP workers started reaching the scene, the police including armed paramilitary forces quickly intervened and prevented the TDP workers from attacking the BJP chief's vehicle, enabling Shah to flee from the scene in his car and reach the airport.
