The High Court today granted a stay on the setting up of a Jubilee Hills Peddamma Gudi Trust to take control of and handle the temple's affairs.
Former Congress MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy filed a petition in the High Court challenging the Endowment Department's notification to set up such a trust for the temple.
In his petition, Reddy asked how a trust could be floated when his family members were acting as the dharma karthas of the temple.
The court issued a stay after hearing the arguments.
Senior Congress leader and former minister late P Janardhan Reddy had constructed the Peddamma Gudi in Jubilee Hills in 1993. The PJR family considers goddess Peddamma as their ilavelpu, and the family members seek the blessings of Peddamma before they start any program.
After PJR's demise his son Vishnuvardhan Reddy has been conducting special programs in Peddamma Gudi and taking care of the temple. However, the Endowments Department recently issued a notification for the setting up of a trust board for the temple.
