AP High Court Stays Decision To Appoint Special Invitees To TTD
The Andhra Pradesh High Court today stayed the orders of the state government appointing special invitees to the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasathanam board.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court today stayed the orders of the state government appointing special invitees to the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasathanam (TTD) board.
It issued interim orders to this effect.
The state government had recently issued a GO appointing a huge number of "special invitees" to the board.
However, three petitions were filed challenging the order.
The petitions alleged that the order was filed violating the rules of the board, and claimed that the decision of the state government would create problems for devotees.
The petitioners also said that the orders appeared to be aimed at damaging the autonomous status of the board.
The counsel for the state government however argued that the appointments were made following the existing rules of the board.
Endowments Minister Vellampally Srinivas later said that the court may have issued the stay based on technical issues.
He said that the government would read the orders of the High Court in detail and then take a decision over appealing them.
