Heavy Rains In Telangana For Two Days

The Meteorological Department announced the possibility of heavy rainfall in Telangana on Thursday and Friday (July 24 and 25) due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the northern Bay Of Bengal.

It stated that light to moderate rains were expected across the State, with heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty winds likely at isolated places. In view of this, a yellow alert has been issued for several districts.

Officials said that there was a likelihood of heavy rainfall on Thursday night in Warangal, Hanamkonda, Mahabubabad, Suryapet, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts. The department has also issued a yellow alert for Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Jangaon, Medak, Kamareddy and Khammam districts on Friday.

Gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h are expected in the districts. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. People have also been warned not to stand under stay wires or electric wires, or near transformers, and avoid touching electric wires lying in water on the roads or attempt to drive over them. They have also been advised to keep animals away from electrical equipment. In case of broken or fallen wires, people are urged to contact the nearest electricity department staff or control room immediately.

If someone suffers an electric shock, bystanders have been advised not to use metal objects or iron rods to rescue them. Only wooden or plastic tools should be used in such situations. People have also been warned against attempting to modify or repair electrical equipment, and against making unofficial purchases of fuses.
