The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today forecast that rains were likely to continue in Telangana for another three days.

The rainfall is expected to persist until August 18, with the possibility of heavy downpours, particularly in the northern and eastern regions of the State, on August 16 and 17. In view of this, the department has issued a red alert for seven districts: Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad and Mulugu.

An orange alert, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, has been declared for eight other districts: Nirmal, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Hanumakonda, Warangal, Suryapet and Khammam.

A yellow alert has been issued for all other districts, indicating the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall along with heavy spells, except for the former Mahabubnagar area.
