Property Tax Rs 101; Water, Power Arrears Waived
With the GHMC elections due in January, Telangana's TRS government is reducing the property tax drastically, and waiving off water and power bill arrears.

People living in the GHMC limits paying Rs. 1,200 as property tax will now have to pay just Rs. 101.
With the GHMC elections are due to be conducted in January, the TRS government of Telangana has decided to bring down the property tax drastically, which may come as a big relief for the poor and middle class people.
This is almost an exemption of property tax as the people of the lower classes can easily pay Rs. 101.
The Municipal Administration department has issued orders on the property tax reduction.
The government took another decision, too - of waiving off the arrears of power and water bills under the GHMC limits. This will cost the State exchequer Rs 423 crores.
The government had in principle agreed to waive power and water arrears some time back. Keeping his promise, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed the officials concerned to take steps to waive the arrears. The related GOs are expected on January 2, with January 1 being a holiday.
