KTR Challenges CM To Debate On Farmers' Issues

The BRS leader invited the Telangana CM to a face-to-face debate at the Somajiguda Press Club at 11 am on July 8.

BRS working president K T Rama Rao today launched another scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, throwing the latter an open challenge to a public debate on farmers' welfare and governance.

Speaking at a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan, KTR invited the CM to a face-to-face debate at the Somajiguda Press Club at 11 am on July 8.

"Let's discuss who did what for the farmers," said KTR, giving Revanth Reddy 72 hours to prepare and respond.

"We are ready to debate at Chintamadaka, Kondareddypalle, or any location of Revanth Reddy's choice. But he must come prepared with facts," KTR said.

The BRS leader reiterated his accusations that the Congress government had failed the State's farmers and made them false promises.

"The Congress government is certain to scrap the Rythu Bandhu scheme. It has insulted farmers by denying them input subsidies and turning agriculture into a burden by not making the payments under that scheme," he said. He also praised Congress MLA Anirudh Reddy for speaking the "truth" on farmers' issues and reiterated KCR's contributions to the development of Telangana.

KTR also claimed that Reddy was acting as a covert agent of TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. "Telangana is not under democratic rule, but under Chandrababu Naidu's covert administration through Revanth Reddy," he said.

Questioning Revanth Reddy's repeated claims about job creation, KTR said, "The Chief Minister is taking credit for jobs that were sanctioned by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. If he is serious, let him come for a debate at Ashok Nagar amidst unemployed youth."

He also said that women were still waiting for the promised Rs 4,000 pensions and Rs 2,500 monthly assistance as per the Congress manifesto.

Taking a dig at Reddy's "tall claims" of more electoral success to come, KTR quipped, "This for the party that cannot win even the ZPTC in Revanth Reddy's own constituency."

Taking another jibe at the CM, KTR said that Revanth Reddy had earned the nickname "PayCM" due to his corruption.

The BRS leader said that his party was ready to fight for BC reservations, farmers' rights and public welfare, and said that while the Congress was misleading the people with fake promises and propaganda, the BRS had a strong record of facts and achievements.
