State Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas today got another victory in a long-standing legal battle against former MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh.
State government officials have removed Ramesh's name from the Vemulawada Assembly constituency voters' list.
A notice was posted at the gate of Ramesh's residence, informing him about the removal.
It may be noted that the Telangana High Court had earlier ruled that Ramesh was not an Indian citizen. Following this verdict, Srinivas requested the authorities to delete Ramesh's name from the voters' list. The officials subsequently issued notices to Ramesh regarding the removal, but the latter did not respond. As a result, his name was officially deleted from the electoral rolls.
This marks the first time in the country that a political leader who has served four terms as an MLA has had his name removed from the voters' list.
