Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today spoke about the need for strict action against those who abused children through social media, and the importance of ensuring justice and protection for the children.
Addressing the inaugural session of the State-Level Meet 2025 On POCSO at MCRHRD, the Chief Minister said that the government was giving top priority to the protection of women and children.
"Justice and care must be extended to children not just during legal proceedings, but also at police stations, child welfare centres and throughout the entire support system. Telangana's Bharosa project has 29 centres. It provides police support, legal aid, medical assistance and counselling in a child-friendly environment. Telangana also pioneered the Child-Friendly Courts run by the Hyderabad Bharosa Centre. The goal is not just faster case disposal, but total child protection and development. The government is actively preparing to implement all necessary measures to tackle crimes against children," he said.
He also spoke about the need for a compassionate legal framework, and said, "The POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice Act are highly progressive instruments in our legal system, but they come with challenges. We must ensure that procedures support child victims rather than traumatise them further. Justice is not just about convictions. It is about restoration, dignity and reclaiming childhood."
"Child pornography must be eradicated, and strict punishments enforced. We must place child survivors at the centre of our legal and moral framework in the fight against this heinous crime. Protecting our children from sexual abuse is non-negotiable and must be done at any cost and by all means," he added.
Reddy said that this year's theme of the POSCO Meet, "Voice for the Voiceless", was a powerful message for society.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Telangana Police and other organisers for successfully hosting the event.
