The name of the former Station Ghanpur MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah has come up as the BRS' candidate for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
According to news reports, the BRS is planning to field Rajaiah in the wake of the party's candidate Kadiyam Kavya's refusal to contest the upcoming elections and her decision to join the Congress.
BRS leaders are reportedly in touch with Rajaiah in this regard.
Reacting on the issue, Rajaiah said that he would discuss the proposal with the BRS activists and take a decision.
He also said that he would move forward only after taking the opinion of the constituency's BRS workers.
Rajaiah had resigned from the BRS after he was denied a ticket for the last Assembly elections. However, as he has not joined any other party, the BRS Warangal district unit is in talks with him to make him contest for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat. It appears that Rajaiah is also interested in contesting. He is expected to meet BRS chief KCR soon, and convey his decision to the latter.
Meanwhile, the Warangal politics have heated up after Kavya, the daughter of the BRS MLA Kadiyam Srihari, expressed her reluctance to contest after the announcement of her name as the BRS candidate. She is all set to join the Congress along with her father. There are rumours that she may be given the Congress ticket for the same seat. There has been a battle of supremacy between Srihari and Rajaiah for a long time. The BRS appears to be hoping that if the Congress gives the ticket to Srihari's daughter, Rajaiah will be the right opponent for her.
