Political developments are unfolding rapidly in Telangana ahead of releasing of the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with the number of leaders joining the Congress from various other parties increasing by the day.
Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy's son and BRS leader Gutha Amith Reddy today called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's advisor Vem Narender Reddy at the latter's residence.
Amith Reddy's meeting with Narender Reddy assumed significance in the political circles, with speculations already doing the rounds on the social media for some days that Amith Reddy was preparing the ground to join the Congress.
On Monday, BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao had held a meeting in Hyderabad with BRS Nalgonda district leaders to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, Sukender Reddy, who is a key leader in Nalgonda district, was absent from the meeting. Amith Reddy too skipped the meeting, and was not in contact with any BRS leaders either, leading to speculation that he would exit the party.
A few days back, Amith Reddy had for the first time criticised former minister and Suryapet MLA G Jagadish Reddy for obstructing his candidature as the BRS candidate for the Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat. However, other BRS leaders from Nalgonda district condemned his remarks and said that he was levelling baseless allegations against the BRS only to leave the party.
According to sources, both Sukender Reddy and Amith Reddy are likely to join the Congress very soon.
