A fire accident that took place in a house in Hyderguda's Avanthi Nagar area, in Hyderabad, today left one person dead and four others injured.
The deceased was identified as 38-year-old Gouri Nath. The injured have been shifted to a hospital close by.
A case has been registered by the police, who are currently investigating the incident. Reports suggest that the fire, which broke out in the wee hours of the day, was caused by a short circuit in an air conditioner.
The residents of the affected house were asleep. It was the local people living in the neighbourhood who noticed the fumes and informed the police and the fire department.
Following this, officials from the fire department reached the spot and rescued the inmates of the house.
The incident follows a similar one that occurred about a month ago - just a couple of days after a
massive fire broke out in Old City's Afzal Gunj area, a fire broke out
at a house located in Azad Nagar, in Amberpet, at around 5:00 am on April 9.
Fortunately, nobody was injured. However, two motorbikes parked on the premises were damaged.
The house owner, one Abdul Raheem, and his family were woken up by their neighbours who noticed smoke pouring out of the house. Though the structure sustained some damage, the family was able to douse the flames without having to call the fire department.
