Just a couple of days after a massive fire broke out in Old City's Afzal Gunj area, another fire broke out today at a house located in Azad Nagar, in Amberpet, at around 5:00 am.
Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident. However, two motorbikes parked on the premises were damaged.
The house owner, one Abdul Raheem, and his family were sleeping at the time. It was the neighbours who noticed smoke pouring out of the house, and alerted Raheem. Though the structure sustained some damage, the family was able to douse the flames without having to call the fire department.
Raheem's family believes that a group of miscreants intentionally set the two bikes aflame causing the fire.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
The fire comes right at the heels of another that left
a tyre godown in Old City's Afzal Gunj area, located close to a petrol pump, severely damaged. A total of eight fire engines had to be rushed to the spot to control the flames. Thankfully, however, no casualties were reported. The losses to property are yet to be estimated.
The incident had led to a huge traffic jam between Chaderghat and Afzal Gunj.
The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
