Former minister and prominent TDP leader of Andhra Pradesh Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad resigned from the party today, weeks before the local body elections in the state.
He had already resigned from his MLC post recently.
Prasad wrote an open letter to party workers and his supporters to announce his resignation.
He said that he was fed up with the attitude of the party leadership and felt constrained to take the extreme step.
He said that though he had asked the party leadership to field him from the Tadikonda seat in the 2019 Assembly elections, he was given Prattipadu, despite the leaders knowing that he would be defeated from in that constituency.
After that the party leaders had tried to malign his image in the name of the state capital JAC, he alleged.
Stating that the hostile attitude of the party leadership after the elections had hurt him a lot, Prasad said that he had now gotten emotionally closer to the ruling YSR Congress Party, but hastened to add that he hadn't held any discussions with that party on joining it.
However, in a few hours after that he joined that YSR Congress Party in the presence of party leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
