The main opposition party in Andhra Pradesh, the TDP, received a major blow in Kadapa district.
With just weeks to go for the local body elections, Jammalamadugu Assembly constituency in-charge Rama Subba Reddy has decided to join the ruling YSR Congress Party in the state along with his supporters.
YSRCP president and Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has given his green signal Rama Subba Reddy's entry into the ruling party.
Although Rama Subba Reddy had decided to join the YSRCP long back, he was convinced by the TDP's president Chandrababu Naidu to stay back in the party. However, Reddy has now made up his mind to join the ruling party due to the special conditions prevailing in his constituency.
Another TDP leader from the district and a member of the Balija community is also joining the YSRCP.
The two leaders are likely to join the ruling party in the next couple of days.
