YSR Congress Party leader and Nellore Mayor Potluri Sravanthi, and her husband Jayavardhan, today resigned from the party.
Sravanthi said that her husband and she would walk behind the ruling TDP Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy.
She said that she had left the TDP previously due to threats from the then ruling YSRCP, and also that she was intimidated by the YSRCP to speak against Sridhar Reddy after the latter had shifted to the TDP a year back.
Sravanthi said that MLA Sridhar Reddy gave her the corporator election ticket even though she had no political background. "Many activists like us have been given political opportunities. He has given me the courage to be in politics. Even when Sridhar Reddy left the YSRCP, I made it clear that I would stand with him," she said.
She urged Reddy to give her and her husband a place in the TDP.
She also said that the allegations of forgery in Nellore Corporation would be investigated by them.
"It is not right to propagate that my husband Jayavardhan has a role in the incident. The facts will come to light in the investigation," Sravanthi said.
