Former minister Motkupally Narasimhulu, who recently
resigned from the BJP and joined the TRS, today said that he would "commit suicide" by hanging himself at Yadagirigutta hillock if the Telangana government's new Dalit Bandhu scheme was not implemented across the state.
Speaking to the media, the leader said that he was confident that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would keep his promise of implementing the scheme in "a cent percent manner" in all the districts of Telangana, and added that he would commit suicide if the CM failed to keep his word.
Expressing his unhappiness with the opposition for "obstructing" the Dalit Bandhu program, the former minister then asked the Congress and the BJP why they were "obstructing" its execution.
"The Dalit community has been forced to live a life of indignity for generations owning to rampant caste discrimination. It is difficult for them to find livelihoods and lead their lives with dignity as such discrimination still continues in some parts of the state. In this context, the Dalit Bandhu scheme is a praiseworthy initiative. The CM and his government have been doing a lot for the welfare of the SCs of the state, and this is just one more instance of the government's commitment to Dalit welfare. When none of the erstwhile CMs from the Congress ever did anything for the development of the community, why are the party's leaders now opposing an initiative that will help the community? The least the party can do is to support meaningful social welfare schemes," he thundered.
Referring to his previous "anti- KCR stance", he clarified that he was ready to support any leader who worked for the good of the people and the state.
Narasimhulu also spoke about the the TDP's fate in Telangana and lashed out at TPCC head and MP A Revanth Reddy, claiming that the latter was the one who had "destroyed" the party in the state. He also claimed that Reddy was to blame for the ousting of the former CM of united Andhra Pradesh, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, from Telangana's political arena.
Continuing his attack on the Congress leader, Narasimhulu alleged that all he had done through his life as a politician was to "blackmail" others, "commit fraud", "cheat people", and "misuse" the RTI.
