Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today alleged that more injustice was done to the irrigation projects in Kollapur and the Palamuru region after K Chandrashekar Rao became the Chief Minister than during the time of united Andhra Pradesh.
He said that although the people of Palamuru elected KCR as an MP, he ended up betraying the region.
Reddy was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Young India Integrated Residential School at Jataprolu in Kollapur mandal of Nagarkurnool district.
Addressing the gathering, he said that the State government would extend full support to the backward Kollapur region.
Questioning the BRS's track record after that, Reddy asked, "Why didn't the BRS complete the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project during its 10-year rule? What happened to the Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu, Bheema, Koilsagar and Jurala projects?"
He also criticised the Kaleshwaram project, and said, "Rs 1 lakh crore was spent on Kaleshwaram alone. If it had been constructed in 2019, it would have collapsed by 2023. Even someone building a small hut ensures it lasts at least ten years."
"We have decided to complete all pending projects in the next two years," he said, and added that all displaced families would be compensated and land acquisition would be completed by December 9 this year.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the Congress government's job creation efforts. "In our first year, we provided over 60,000 jobs. We will issue notifications soon to fill another 40,000 jobs by the time we complete half our term," he said. He said that the delay was due to the government's commitment to implementing SC categorisation, a promise that he claimed had now been fulfilled.
Criticising the BRS regime further, Reddy said that the State was looted for ten years, and that farmers, women, the unemployed youth and students were all deceived. "But soon after we came to power, we provided free RTC bus travel for women, gas cylinders at Rs 500, Rythu Bharosa to farmers and 60,000 jobs to the unemployed. We are also working towards making one crore women millionaires," he said.
On the occasion, the CM also distributed the following financial aid to women's self-help groups in the Kollapur constituency:
- Interest-free loan cheques worth Rs 6.33 crore to 2,671 SHGs
- Bank loan cheques worth Rs 41.61 crore to 570 SHGs
- An accident insurance cheque of Rs 20 lakh to a woman SHG member
- A loan insurance payment cheque of Rs 9,35,443 to another woman SHG member
