The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council today unanimously passed a resolution moved seeking the Central government's granting special status to the state.
The Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Council today unanimously passed a resolution moved by the Chief Minister seeking the Central government's granting special status to the state.
While moving the resolution, the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu reassured the people that the state government was striving to persuade the Centre to implement all the promises made to the state during the bifurcation.
Expressing condolences to the families of those who had committed suicides recently frustrated over the delay in the state getting Special Status, the CM appealed to the people to remain calm, saying that "our patience and perseverance" would soon bear the fruit and pave the way for prosperity, progress, growth and development of the state.
The Chief Minister urged everyone to fully support the government's efforts at this critical phase.
Naidu explained how the state was subjected to injustice in the process of bifurcation, and said that no stone would be left unturned in the process of securing justice for the state.
The Chief Minister also said that at the time of the bifurcation of the state, he had tried his best to pursue the then government to do equal justice to both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He said that he had submitted several memoranda to the President, the then Prime Minister and several national leaders bringing the injustice being done by the then UPA government in the matter of the bifurcation to light.
He also listed the efforts put by him in getting Central cooperation and financial and other help as the state was lagging behind on many development parameters.
He also said that his government was giving top priority to irrigation projects, and assured that the state would turn drought-free, if everything went well.
