Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) spokesperson G Niranjan on Tuesday alleged that Election Commission of India had completely failed to conduct the elections in a proper manner in the State.
He said that enforcing the Model Code of Conduct had been reduced to seizing liquor bottles in the State.
He also alleged that the EC has become a puppet in the hands of the TRS.
Addressing mediapersons on Tuesday, Niranjan alleged that the Chief Minister's camp office had become a political centre to distribute B-forms to defecting politicians. He also alleged that the Election Commission was not taking any action against religion-based meetings and was remaining a mute spectator to other gross violations. Citing an example, the TPCC leader said that Home Minister Mahmood Ali had held a meeting of Muslim imams and urged them to vote for the TRS. He wondered whether the Election Commission rules did not apply to the ruling party.
He also said that there was no action against the Chief Secretary despite him releasing the progress report of the government in violation of the Model Code of Conduct. While the Election Commission had transferred the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, no action had been initiated against the Chief Secretary of Telangana by the EC, he pointed out.
