ECI Suspends Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar, Appoints Ravi Gupta

Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar has been suspended by the Election Commission (EC).

The reason for the suspension was that he had officially met TPCC chief Revanth Reddy while the election code was in force in the State.

Kumar was accused of violating the election code by meeting a party's candidate with a bouquet of flowers.

The EC issued show-cause notices to the ex-DGP along with Additional DGs Mahesh Bhagwat and Sanjay Jain who had accompanied him.

The meeting of the DGP with Reddy had become a hot topic in the State.

The EC is learnt to have appointed senior IPS officer Ravi Gupta as the next DGP of the State in the wake of the suspension of Kumar.
