The Election Commission of India has directed the Telangana government to stop the disbursement of money to farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
It issued orders that money should be disbursed only after the Lok Sabha elections, which will be held on May 13 in Telangana.
The EC also objected to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's comments that Rythu Bharosa would be given to farmers before May 9. It said that Reddy's comments constituted a violation of the Model Code of Conduct, and asked officials to submit a report in this regard.
