Congress Leaders Urge FIR Against BJP Worker Threatening Kharge
Top Telangana Congress leaders asked the police to register a case against a Manikanta Rathod of the BJP who threatened to kill AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.
TPCC president and MP Revanth Reddy, former MLA Sampath Kumar and AICC secretary and ex-MP Anjan Kumar submitted a complaint to the Station House Officer of the Jubilee Hills police station and requested him to register a case against a person named Manikanta Rathod of the BJP, who they said threatened AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, his wife and the rest of his family.
The Congress leaders claimed that they had come across in the print, electronic media and social media that calls had been made by Rathod, a BJP worker from the Chittapur Assembly constituency of Karnataka, to kill Kharge and his entire family. The news had been spreading across the nation, and the followers and sympathizers of the Congress were panicking, the leaders said
If such criminal actions of the BJP were not curbed at the initial stage, they may also promote enmity among the cadre of the two political parties which in turn may escalate the issue beyond control, the leaders said.
They requested the police to register an FIR under Sections 153 and 506, and other relevant sections of the IPC, against the persons involved in threatening the Congress president, and take stringent action to render justice.
