Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah is under fire from the party High Command for having failed to carry out an organised election campaign in Telangana.
According to sources, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh has reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction at the "mishandling" of the election campaign in the Telangana region by Ponnala and his team.
Ponnala has been accused of having ineffective coordination with other leaders and candidates.
Singh felt that due to the lack of a centralised campaign, the Congress candidates in many constituencies felt isolated.
Further, Ponnala's failure to suppress the rebels has also drawn flak from the Congress High Command. Ponnala's own daughter-in-law Vaishali, who had been denied a ticket by the party, is allegedly working against the official candidates in his own home town Karimnagar.
Sources further said that Singh was unhappy over the complaints that he had been receiving from the party cadre, who alleged that Ponnala remained inaccessible to them throughout the campaign. (INN)
