Utter confusion and chaos prevailed during the release of the Telangana Congress manifesto at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday.
The manifesto, which was originally scheduled to be released at 11am, was delayed by over 2 hours. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah did not reach Gandhi Bhavan on time, preferring instead to attend a meeting held by some minorities' organisation.
Immediately after his arrival, he got busy with the joining of TRS leader Shravan and others into the Congress party. His entry into the conference hall along with other leaders led to a near stampede, forcing some media personnel to give a call for the boycott of the function.
However, Union Minister Jairam Ramesh pacified the agitated media personnel.
Telangana Congress leaders were seen jostling to get a copy of the manifesto. According to sources, only 200 copies of the English manifesto reached Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, and were released to the media personnel. Senior Congress leaders were seen requesting their colleagues and some media personnel to wait till Sunday for more copies and for the manifesto in Telugu and Urdu. (INN)
