Less than 24 hours have passed since the declaration of the election results, and the Telangana Congress leaders have already begun the blame game.
Speaking to media persons in Hyderabad, former Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud alleged that the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Ponnala Lakshmaiah was primarily responsible for the party's debacle in the region.
He said that the Congress party did not carry out an organised or centralised campaign in the region. Since all the top leaders were contesting the elections, they had confined themselves to their own constituencies.
He alleged that there was no coordination between the top leaders and the local cadre, which damaged the party's prospects.
Yaskhi said that the Congress needed to do a serious introspection of what went wrong in the elections and take corrective steps. However, he also said that Ponnala should accept the responsibility for the party's defeat in Telangana. (INN)
