Reiterating that it will play the role of a kingmaker in Telangana and be king in Seemandhra, the YSR Congress party said today that the unwarranted multi-pronged attacks on it by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and others ahead of the polling in Seemandhra have stemmed from their frustration and fear of defeat.
Party spokesman Gattu Ramachandra Rao told reporters here that the voting patterns and tendencies in the just-concluded polls across Telangana have confirmed that the YSRCP will both enter the Telangana Assembly and have representation in the Lok Sabha from Telangana, with its stellar performance.
"We are going to play a key role in the Telangana Assembly as a hung Assembly is on the anvil. We will undoubtedly play the role of kingmaker in Telangana," Gattu said exuding confidence.
Referring to the criticism of YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy by Union Minister Jairam Ramesh, Gattu said the latter's baseless and unwarranted remarks have only revealed the Congress party's frustration.
"Your party is already dead and on a pyre. People know very well that you have grown hair but not wisdom," he told Ramesh, objecting to the latter's remarks that Jagan was an accused who was out on bail and can't become CM.
Rebutting the Union Minister's criticism, Gattu said it was the Congress which colluded with TDP chief Chandrababu and sent Jagan to jail. "Our party president has been with the people for the last 4 years journeying for 30,000km and meeting them to know their problems very well.
"If Jagan becomes the CM, he will usher in the YSR golden era back, but people know that the state will be divided further into several pieces if you are elected to power. That is why your party is dead," Gattu countered. "This is the reason for leaders leaving your party."
Asserting that the YSRCP would sweep the polls across Seemandhra making the elections one-sided, Gattu said Ramesh's utterances have only showed the frustration of Congress party.
Reminding Ramesh that he got a berth in the Union Cabinet thanks to the alms given by the Telugu people and YSR, Gattu retorted, "But you were also part of the Congress that colluded with TDP and sent Jagan to jail illegally. If you say that Jagan went to jail and is out on bail, almost 50% of the politicians in the country also went to jail or are facing allegations.
"Jagan is a man who stands by his commitment, but the Congress, which announced Rs. 1 lakh as compensation to the family of each of those who died of heartbreak following the sudden death of YSR, has failed to fulfill the commitment," Gattu reminded him.
Finding fault with Chandrababu Naidu for announcing that he had cast his vote for the BJP outside the polling booth, Gattu said this behavior of Naidu only showed his pitiable condition in the elections.
"Naidu has no vote in the constituency where he is contesting, and has no seat where he cast his vote," he said, adding that Naidu had violated constitution by making that announcement. "It also reveals his frustration." (INN)
