Malkajgiri DCP Umamaheswara Sarma today informed the media that software engineer Chander Yamjala had been killed by a supari gang contracted by the latter's brother-in-law, Vinay.
The DCP said that the police had arrested six persons, including Vinay, in connection with the case while 11 others were still at large.
Sharing further details about the case, the DCP said that Vinay had hatched a plan to kill his brother-in-law as the latter had been harassing his sister following the Chander couple's divorce proceedings that were underway in the Malkajgiri court.
Vinay, who had known that Chander would come to the court on December 22, asked the victim, who was getting into his car after finishing the hearing, to step aside for a conversation, and stabbed him multiple times with a knife.
The victim eventually succumbed to the multiple injuries inflicted on him by the accused.
The DCP assured the public that the absconding culprits, too, would be apprehended soon.
