Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, including ministers and MLAs, came down heavily on the union government for the notices issued to MLC K Kavitha by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), accusing them of being politically motivated.
Speaking to the media in Suryapet, Minister for Energy Jagadish Reddy alleged that the BJP government at the Centre was misusing the investigation agencies against the opposition parties, and said that the notice to MLC Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam was a conspiracy to demoralise the confidence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as the latter had intensified the expansion of the BRS into the rest of the country against the BJP.
"The time has come to end the atrocities of the Modi government. The BRS doesn't fear these cheap tactics being indulged in by the BJP. Going to jail is nothing new to us - we went several times during the Telangana agitation. It will not possible for the BJP to intimidate us. We will fight back," Reddy said.
Minister for Agriculture Singireddy Niranjan Reddy termed the ED notices as political vendetta, and said that the BJP didn't have the guts to face the BRS politically and so was indulging in these cheap tactics.
He asked why the ED, IT and CBI did not investigate issues related to business magnate Adani, who "collapsed" the Indian economy.
Minister for Endowments and Forests Indrakaran Reddy alleged that the investigation agencies had become puppets in the hands of the union government, and that the Centre had issued notices to Kavitha unable to face Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao politically.
Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran termed the ED summons to Kavitha an attack on Telangana itself. Calling the summons a political conspiracy to prevent Kavitha's Bharat Jagruthi and the BRS from expanding their activities across India, the MLA said that the union government was taking revenge on its political rivals across the nation by using the ED and CBI as weapons.
