The Rouse Avenue District Court in New Delhi today allowed BRS MLC K Kavitha to have home-cooked food in Tihar jail, where she is lodged in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

Kavitha was taken to the Tihar jail after the court on Tuesday sent her to judicial custody till April 9.

The court also permitted Kavitha other facilities, including a mattress, a bed sheet, a blanket, slippers, clothes and books. She is also allowed to take a pen and sheets of papers, wear jewellery, and take medicines.

Kavitha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi excise policy-linked money-laundering case on March 15.

Speaking to reporters before entering the court, the BRS leader claimed, "It is an illegal case. The case against me is not one of money laundering, but of political laundering."

She exuded confidence that she would come out clean, and said that she had complete faith in the judiciary.
