Responding for the first time to the ongoing episode of the Delhi excise policy scam, in which the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned MLC K Kavitha (KCR's daughter) to appear before it on Saturday, BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao predicted that the ED might announce the arrest of Kavitha tomorrow given that the BJP government at the Centre was harassing BRS leaders with the help of investigation agencies.
Addressing the BRS party general body meeting at Telangana Bhavan today, the BRS president said that the investigation agencies had already questioned many BRS leaders, including minister Gangula Kamalakar and MP Ravichandra, after levying false allegations, and that it was now the turn of Kavitha.
"We will not fear the intimidation tactics of the union government even if the ED arrests my daughter Kavitha tomorrow. We will fight against the BJP and will expose its misdeeds in the public in the days to come," KCR reportedly told the party leaders.
The Chief Minister also made it clear that there would be no early elections in Telangana, and that the State's Assembly elections would be held as per schedule, in December.
He added that there was no anti-incumbency against the BRS government and that all the surveys were in favour of the BRS, and exuded confidence that the BRS would come to power for a third consecutive term in the State.
He also asked the party MLAs to spend more time with the people in their respective constituencies and to undertake padayatras involving all sections of the people, and to take the State government's welfare schemes and development programs to the public in a big way.
Pooh-poohing any threat from the BJP, KCR said that the saffron party still didn't have cadre in the State, and predicted that it would not even secure deposits in the majority of the Assembly constituencies in the next elections.
The BRS president also decided to conduct a massive public meeting in Warangal soon.
