BJP Telangana president K Laxman on Sunday said that his party had earned 20% of the votes in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Telangana, thanks to the love and affection showered by the people of the State on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing media persons at the State party office, Laxman said that the party, which had managed to win only one Assembly seat in the last year's Assembly elections, was able to leap several notches to secure a fifth of the votes and win four MP seats on its own in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The party had not ever won four MP seats even in the undivided AP in the past, he pointed out. The victory of the party was a clear indicator of the continuously growing traction for the party in Telangana, and a result of the corruption-free rule of Narendra Modi, he claimed.
Laxman also said that the BJP had emerged as the world's number one political party by enrolling 11 crore people as its members. The party and its allies were already ruling 18 States in the country, he also pointed out, and claimed that by 2023, Telangana would also be part of that list.
