Balkampet Goddess Yellamma Wedding Held On Grand Scale
The wedding of Goddess Yellamma in the Balkampet temple was held with grandeur, with prayers for rains and prosperity. Traffic diversions are in place.
The celestial wedding of Goddess Balkampet Yellamma was held on a grand scale on Tuesday, drawing thousands of devotees to the temple for the sacred ceremony.
Endowments Minister Konda Surekha offered a silk saree on behalf of the State government. Among those present were Hyderabad district in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar, GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, MP Anil Kumar Yadav and other elected representatives.
The ritual was conducted by temple priests at 11:51 am.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed happiness at the enthusiastic celebrations, and said the State government had prayed for bountiful rains and crop prosperity.
"Recently, we've seen tragic incidents like fires and crashes. We hope the Goddess showers blessings on the people of Telangana and Hyderabad," he said.
Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Joel Davis announced that traffic restrictions would continue until July 2 due to the Yellamma Kalyanam and Rathotsavam. Vehicles from Greenlands to Fatehnagar will be diverted at the S R Nagar T-junction and routed via the S R Nagar community hall, Abhilasha Towers, B K Guda crossroads, Sriram Nagar and Sanathnagar.
