Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan, on Wednesday, expressed the hope that the Allahabad High Court's verdict on the Babri Masjid title suit, scheduled to be delivered on Thursday, would not trigger any problem since frenzy has not overtaken political parties now.
Narayan told media persons that the people had always maintained peace and harmony and it was the political parties, which whipped up prejudice and violence among communities off and on. He stated,"Today, political parties are showing commendable restraint. The fact that India has remained a secular, democratic country, despite occasional problems, is a tribute to our freedom fighters and constitutional builders."
The LSP chief added that the country was now poised for unprecedented economic growth and the people's focus for the next quarter century should be on promoting economic growth, eliminating poverty and sustaining environment.
"Whoever tries to undermine the goals by dividing people based on caste, language, region and religion will be betraying the country. The youth should remain on guard and ensure that all institutions behaved at this historic moment," Narayan stated.
