Andhra Pradesh's Lok Satta Party (LSP) chief Nagabhairava Jaya Prakash Narayana today welcomed the Union Budget for 2021-22, released by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament, and applauded it for being a plan that would bring benefits to the nation, even as various other parties called it out for being "insufficient and unclear".
"This year's budget is commendable for its inclusive approach. It is one that has provisions for every section of society, and will, therefore, be well-accepted by the nation," he said.
Addressing the objections raised by various other political parties' leaders, who faulted the budget for "neglecting" their states and for favouring the states which would soon be having elections, the LSP chief urged the leaders to look at the "bigger picture".
"The budget must be looked at from the national perspective, and not from a state-wise perspective. It is not right to claim that no funds have been allocated to the two Telugu-speaking states of AP and Telangana. It is always better to analyse the budget from the point of its benefits to the entire country. Also, it is only natural to mention the names of the states which will soon hold elections," he added.
The leader also said that this year's budget would help the agricultural sector and the farmers of the country greatly.
He then addressed the ruling YSR Congress Party regime, and urged it to take the lead to unite all the political parties of AP on one platform, and to fight for funds the Godavari river's Polavaram project and other developmental schemes of the state.
Commenting on Andhra Pradesh's special state status, Narayana encouraged all the political parties from the neighbouring Telugu state of Telangana to also rally together to get the special status in order to secure better packages for its development.
