Peace Efforts Lauded By Rosaiah

Chief Minister K Rosaiah thanked the people of Andhra Pradesh for maintaining peace post Ayodhya-Babri verdict.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah, on Friday, thanked the people of Andhra Pradesh, all political parties, people's representatives, religious organisations and associations, religious leaders, youth, students, police and all others concerned, for maintaining peace and harmony after the pronouncement of the verdict of Allahabad High Court on Ayodhya issue.

The Chief Minister expressed his happiness that the state in general, and the city in particular, remained calm after the judgement. In a special thanksgiving message, the Chief Minister said "I congratulate the people of Andhra Pradesh, especially people of Hyderabad city for exhibiting communal amity and harmony after the pronouncement of the judgment of Allahabad High Court. Various sections of the society have shown will and maturity and exhibited camaraderie in maintaining peace and harmony in the State".

Rosaiah further said," In this connection, I thank the people of Andhra Pradesh, various Hindu and Muslim religious organisations, religious leaders, political parties, peace committees, Mythri committees, and print and electronic media for extending their utmost cooperation to the administrative machinery, and the police for maintaining peace. I appeal to the public to continue to maintain restraint in the coming days to thwart any evil design of anti-social elements".

The Chief Minister has also reviewed the situation with the Chief Secretary S V Prasad, DGP K Aravind Rao, City Police Commissioner, AK Khan, IGP (Intelligence) Mahender Reddy and other senior officials.

The Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh, since its inception, was known for communal harmony and peaceful co-existence of different sections of people. He said,"Our state is on the fast track of progress. Agriculture production is expected to be the record highest. Industrial investment and tourism are fast picking up. Let us concentrate on the growth and comprehensive development of the state".

Rosaiah said, "All concerned should maintain peace and harmony and ensure that the best traditions of our culture are maintained". The Chief Minister said that the country comes first.

"Ours is the largest democracy in the world. It is a time-tested and matured democracy. Largest number of political parties, religions, castes, sub-castes, linguistic sections, sects and tribes co-exist peacefully in this country. We have the most ancient civilisation, culture and tradition. The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, taught us to live and let live. Tolerance, amity, patience and perseverance are our underlying principles. Let us uphold the cherished values of this great nation and let India move on", the CM said.

Rosaiah stated that the law and order situation was very peaceful across the state. "In this connection, I once again thank all the people for maintaining absolute harmony in the spirit of peaceful co-existence. Let me also state that the state government on its part remains fully committed to upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace, order and harmony", the Chief Minister said.
