Blaming the ineptness of the counsel of the Babri Masjid Action Committee for the Allahabad High Court's verdict which went against Muslim community, the Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) on Sunday called for a bandh, and urged the people of the state to observe December 6th, the anniversary of the demolitions of the Babri Masjid, as a 'Black Day'.
MBT president Adam Malik told media persons that if the day of the demolition of the Babri Masjid was a 'black day' for the Muslim community, the day of the verdict by the Allahabad High Court was the blackest day in the annals of Indian history. The MBT president said, "The adverse verdict perverts the law and paves the ground for fresh hostilities against the minorities. In the name of enforcing law, yet another attempt was made to bury justice at the altar of peace."
The advocate stated that the willingness of the Babri Masjid Action Committee leaders and its counsel Zafaryab Jeelani to agree to the excavation of Babri Masjid site had helped the Sangh Parivar in procuring false proofs and creating false ASI report during the rule of the BJP-led government.
The MBT president demanded that the UPA government at the centre reject the unconstitutional judgment delivered by the Allahabad High Court and take corrective measures to undo the wrong, and protect and uphold the secular constitution.
He also demanded that the government take necessary legal steps, establish a special Supreme Court bench to conduct rehearing on the Babri Masjid title case afresh, and settle the issue as per the secular constitution in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile, the city police has made elaborate security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents on the anniversary of the demolition of the Masjid.
The police has deployed 4 companies of Rapid Action Force at strategic points in the old city, apart from the Andhra Pradesh Special Police.
Section 144 is already in place in the city.
