Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Maken on Wednesday told the Rajya Sabha that the central government had not made any attempt for an out of court settlement of the Ram Janam Bhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute after the Allahabad High Court
judgement on 30th September, 2010.
In a written reply, Maken said that in compliance with directions of Supreme Court and Special Bench of the Allahabad High Court at Lucknow, the central government was obliged to maintain the status-quo at the Ram Janam Bhoomi-Babri Masjid complex at Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
He said that the centre was bound to keep the status quo for a period of 3 months from the date of pronouncement of the judgement by the Special Bench of the Allahabad High Court at Lucknow.
The 3 month period will end on December 30th, 2010.
The MoS also reminded that the government of India was not a party to any of the title suits.
